Federal Signal’s fixed ALPR systems provides continuous monitoring of vehicles in high-traffic areas and communicates all database 'hits' to local agencies for deployment. Within our fixed ALPR systems, the BOSS software allows law enforcement agencies to share data generated by PAGIS (mobile application) and the Spike HD or Spike+ cameras with integrated processors.
SPIKE Cameras SpikeHD P382 and Spike+P372 cameras with PIPS Technology create an evidentiary record consisting of an infrared plate image and a color overview image of vehicle. Benefits of the Spike cameras include superior read quality, confidence for a full lane of traffic and excellent plate capture rates with internal or external triggering for versatility. Multiple connectivity options are included for ease of integration into other systems. The Spike camera systems provide protection and security of data and can be configured and monitored from any standard web-browser.
- TripleFlash™: Exclusive to PIPS Technology, TripleFlash varies the flash, shutter and gain settings of the camera to capture three plate images. Only the image determined to produce the hightest quality is sent in for processing, ensuring optimum performance regardless of light or weather conditions.
- PlateFinder™: Exclusive to PIPS Technology, PlateFinder is a sophisticated firmware that continually searches the camera's field of view for the presence of a license plate.
- Dual Lens Camera: As a license plate is detected, the dual lens camera is triggered to capture a color image of the vehicle and an infrared images of the lincense plate. Infrared lens are able to see license plates regardless of sun glare, darkness or other adverse conditions.
- Optical Character Recognition: Unlike some ALPR systems, the PIPS Technology system does not use generic OCR engines for all states and regions. PIPS uses a customized OCR engine specific to the state or region of interest. Our OCR engines are very tolerant of skewed and off-axis plate reads, various plate sizes, syntax rules, and designs
BOSS - Software BOSS® (Back Office System Software) enables users to organize and archive the vast amount of data generated by both mobile and fixed units. BOSS stores all captured license plate data in a central location to support data analysis, data queries and reporting to assist law enforcement investigations. In addition, BOSS is capable of mapping all locations associated to a particular plate in order to track vehicle movement.
Interface Box The NEMA ALPR interface box provides a simple hardware interface to the Spike+ and SpikeHD integrated cameras and Automated License Plate Recognition processor. With models available for both single and two camera deployments, the interface box provides all hardware interfaces required for the Spike+ and SpikeHD cameras.
